Energy stored in a capacitor

 The energy stored in a capacitor is given by :

     E = 1/2 CV^2

Where :

E = energy (in joules)

C = capacitance (in farads)

V = voltage (in volts)


This formula shows that the energy stored depends on both the capacitance and the square of the voltage.
