 Electric Field due to an Infinitely Long Charged Wire

Using Gauss's law, the electric field (E) due to an infinitely long charged wire with linear charge density λ is:

E = λ / (2πε₀r)

where:

= λ is the linear charge density.

= ε₀ is the electric constant.

= r is the distance from the wire.

The electric field lines are radial and perpendicular to the wire.
