Where:


1. π = osmotic pressure

2. c = concentration of solute (in moles per liter, M)

3. R = gas constant (0.0821 L atm/mol K)

4. T = temperature (in Kelvin, K)


This equation shows that osmotic pressure is directly proportional to the concentration of solute and temperature.
